TAS – Thermal Analysis Software:
CSA has invested in the latest version of TAS software and training, providing a complete solution for thermal simulation of new and existing buildings, allowing our Engineers to compare alternative heating/cooling strategies and façade design for internal comfort, equipment sizing, energy demand and Part L2 Compliance.
The software simulates the dynamic thermal performance of buildings and their systems with integrated natural and forced airflow. TAS was one of the first dynamic modelling packages accredited by the DCLG for UK Building Regulations use and is also one of the few software packages who’s calculations are accredited for use in a BREEAM assessment.

NEW APPOINTMENT - WYEVALE GARDEN CENTRES:
CSA have been appointed to carry out the design associated with two new projects for Wyevale Garden Centres in Cardiff & Faversham (Kent).
Wyevale are proposing to expand their existing network of garden centres with an ambitious development programme involving sustainable construction techniques and incorporating a number of environmental initiatives.
The Cardiff centre will be a stand alone unit and have an indoor sales area of 6,000 sq.m with an additional 4,000 sq.m externally. The Faversham project will be 4,000sq,m internally with 2,000 sq.m externally & be part of a retail park.
The buildings will be naturally ventilated and use ground source heat pump technology, solar thermal water heating and rainwater harvesting for plant irrigation.
CSA will be working with RFK Architects and Stace Quantity Surveying to provide an economic, energy efficient design which will incorporate dimmable fluorescent lighting with intelligent lighting control using daylight linking, presence detection and time control to reduce the need for artificial lighting during periods of high natural light, low occupancy and restocking activities.
External lighting will also utilise luminaires fitted with wind turbine and photovoltaic solar collectors.
TATE MODERN EDF SUBSTATION UPGRADE:
CSA have been appointed to provide MEPH services in relation to the rationalisation of the existing EDF substation at Bankside power station London to allow for expansion of Tate Modern art gallery.
The project which will take place over the next 3 years and will provide a substation of equal capacity in 50% of the existing space, CSA are working in conjunction with EDF and Areva to provide all of the back of house services to the development including all low voltage infrastructure services.
TESCO DISTRIBUTION CENTRE LIVINGSTON COMPLETES:
Livingston is one of many Ditribution Centres CSA is currently working on and Comprises 1,000,000 sq.ft. of ambient, freezer, chilled +1 deg C & +12 deg C chambers, VMU (vehicle maintenance unit), & RSU, (Recycling Service Unit). Livingston Distribution Centre is also identified as a "green site" having a rainwater harvesting system that supplies water to the refrigeration systems and a second rain water system that will supply the RSU for use on the tray wash machine. Additional work was carried out upgrading the existing 33KV sub-station on site. The CDC/RSU has 95% emergency power generation back up and fuel storage for 48 hr emergency generator operation.

CONGRATULATIONS LUJUN: 
CSA Mechanical Design Engineer Miss Lujun Zhou, has become the first female to pass BRE’s Competent Person Scheme – Building CO2 emission rate calculations, joining our Mr Richard Abbott and Mr Abraham Adenekan as registered competent persons.
With all new buildings having to meet the specified CO2 emission targets, CSA recognises the importance in having our staff qualified to ensure our Clients buildings exceed the minimum standard.
Lujun has also recently become a registered CIBSE Low Carbon Consultant, covering design for energy efficiency and conservation, low carbon and renewable technologies.
NEW PROJECT AT WHITECITY:
CSA have been appointed for the new 23,000sq ft Waitrose store at WhiteCity. A new 150,000m² retail development including a further 4 Anchor stores, 265 Speciality stores, over 40 places to dine, a 14 screen cinema, Health Spa and Gym.
The scheme also contains a Pavilion for hosting live music events, fashion shows and cultural events currently costing £1.7bn..

Located on a 46 acre site off the A3220 opposite BBC Television Centre the scheme includes 4,500 parking spaces and can also be accessed by both the Central and Hammersmith and City underground lines and will be the largest retail development in Europe completing late 2008.

COMMITTED TO ENIRONMENTAL AND ENERGY EFFICIENCY ISSUES:
CSA have made substantial investment in training staff in becoming accredited BREEAM assessors, BRE SBEM competent persons (PART L) and CIBSE Low Carbon Consultants, helping our Clients meet their environmental obligations.
NEW REGIONAL OFFICES:
CSA announce as part of it's continued growth strategy the opening of a regional office in Edinburgh. This new office will service projects in Scotland and Northern England of our existing Client base and to undertake new commissions for our ever expanding Client base.
The programme for the expansion of CSA both in the UK and in Europe will deliver numerous similar facilities over the next few years, and demonstrates the commitment to growth.
CSA – USA:
CSA Princeton office has successfully won the business for 11 new stores for a French supermarket chain being built in China. Additionally they have been asked to redesign the air conditioning for their offices and several other projects.
CHELSEA FOOTBALL CLUB:
CSA have secured a number of projects over the summer for Chelsea Football Club, including an upgrade of spectator facilities in the East stand, refurbishment of the Megastore and upgrade of the pitch floodlighting to give a lighting level of 1600lux to meet upgraded FIFA standards.
CSA are the retained consultant for Chelsea Football Club and are currently appointed on the £13 million training academy in Cobham, this facility has a copper clad iconic design, designed by AFL Architects provides state of the art facilities including Hydropool facilities and 3 electrically under soil heated pitches will provide a home for the First team squad including sleeping and player leisure facilities.
CSA have undertaken a number of commissions for Chelsea Football Club including upgrade of the changing facilities at Stamford Bridge and provision of corporate facilities in the existing East Stand.
Chelsea has aspirations to increase spectator capacity in the near future which will result in the expansion of Stamford Bridge or relocation to a new site.
